Bullimbal school has a range of facilities for students.
Bullimbal School has eight home base classrooms, two demountable classrooms and is in the process of getting two new classrooms. Each classroom is beautifully equipped with indoor learning areas, outside break rooms, additional learning spaces and calming areas, kitchen areas for food preparation and for art and craft activities, bathrooms which include showers and change areas with mobile and ceiling hoists. All areas of the school are wheelchair accessible. Sensory equipment is integrated within each classroom providing your child with an inclusive and fully integrated program. Our classrooms are air conditioned and beautifully carpeted. Each classroom is equipped with state of the art technology to support student learning and access to curriculum.
Assistive Technologies are extensively used at Bullimbal to support student participation and access to the curriculum. Devices include touchscreen computers and tablets, interactive whiteboards and screens, student laptops, and tools to support access including switch interface technology, modified input devices such as alternate keyboards and mice.
Our playground is designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
An open space is provided with a basketball court, lawn area, and outdoor musical instruments, music listening, and a range of outdoor play activities.
We have separate playground areas with play equipment suitable for different ages and designed with your child’s social and emotional development in mind.
A bike track adjoins the playground with bikes, trikes, scooters in all sizes and levels of accessibility.
Swimming and therapy programs are conducted in our heated indoor hydrotherapy pool. Students access a hydrotherapy program on a weekly basis. The pool is also hired by community members for other clients with specialised needs.
Our Sensory room is a special room designed and equipped to stimulate the senses of hearing, sight, touch and smell. It is a place where students with sensory integration disorder can explore and develop their sensory skills, but also where they can relax and relieve stress and anxiety.
The school has a kitchen that allows students to prepare and cook a variety of simple, healthy meals.
A vegetable garden, orchard, and chicken coup is located next to our extensive outdoor learning classroom. Bullimbal is a proud partner with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. Weekly kitchen and garden lessons are provided to students. The aim of this program to engage and educate young children in the growing, harvesting and cooking of fresh healthy food.
We also have a separate sensory garden with covered barbecue facilities and a covered deck.
When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.
Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:
meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation
includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics
is appropriate for the full range of school activities
is suitable for all body shapes.
